John’s dedication to aviation safety education aligns with over forty years of experience directing Fortune 500 companies in management, training, and executive development roles. His work in aviation has been recognized through numerous awards including the 2005 FAA National Certificated Flight Instructor, the 2008 National FAA Safety Team Representative, and 2018 NAFI Jack Eggspuehler Award.
John is an FAA Certificated Flight Instructor with Instrument, ASEL, AMEL, Glider, SES, and Advanced Ground privileges and he served the FAA as an Initial CFI to Sport Pilot Designated Pilot Examiner for 13 years.
John’s experience as president of a regional flight instructor association, Flight Instructor Revalidation Clinic Chief Instructor, Co-Director / Author of the KidVenture Young Eagles Education Program, and an FAA Safety Team Lead Representative provides the foundation for decades of creating, hosting, and producing regional and national aviation safety training content and events.
In 2020 John joined fellow aviation safety education advocates to create the WINGS Industry Network, initially serving as Director of Strategic Planning and then Board Chair. He created the blueprint for the new organization to focus on a variety of unique products and services to create collaborative opportunities for the abundance of educational resources and content available in the aviation community.
John’s is president of Aeronautical Proficiency Training that designed and built the E-Z WINGS tool to provide a user-friendly experience for requesting and validating FAA WINGS credits for all categories/classes of aircraft, and all pilot certificates including for the first time, student pilots.
